Outside its home continent, Durban is easily the best-known African cannabis strain. This chunky subtropical sativa grows abundantly across southern Africa and is enjoyed everywhere. Durban Feminized cannabis seeds are a perfect outdoor sativa for growers of all experience levels. She’s quick, fungus-resistant and a great producer, even in a dubious summer!

Durban remains one of the purest outdoor sativa varieties in the Sensi Seeds collection. Great care was taken to preserve her original family line and genotype in our next update to this classic cannabis. Just as our first Durban seed strain was acclimatised only by breeding select plants from its old and stable gene pool, Durban Feminized cannabis seeds were developed by backcrossing within that same rock solid lineage.

Durban is classed as a sativa because it originates in a subtropical zone and can grow and flower happily in a photoperiod that stays within a few hours of 12/12 all year round. However, the strain as a whole is somewhat shorter in stature and significantly faster to flower than a typical sativa, and the Durban genotype produces much harder, denser flower clusters.

Durban Feminized cannabis seeds produce plants with strong lateral branches around a thick main stem. Flowering is quick and prolific; hard calyxes cluster at the nodes, then run upwards, filling most gaps in the top half of the stem and branches. Pistils are relatively short and thick, often displaying pink or creamy yellow hues before turning darker as the plants mature.

In its land of origin, large crops of Durban are often grown with minimal tending, as the plants are considered tough enough to look after themselves! Naturally, cannabis enthusiasts and medicinal growers will usually provide their precious plants with much more attentive care. In any case, Durban Feminized seeds are forgiving of common grower mistakes. She embodies the robust, resilient nature of her family line and can produce a great harvest in an unreliable northern growing season.

Plants are uniform in structure and grow at a steady pace. Outdoor height gain in flowering is manageable and plants can be kept around 150cm if necessary. To maximise plant size and harvest, Durban Feminized cannabis seeds can be started indoors as early as March and plants may finish around 250cm if they are not pruned or cut back throughout their growing and flowering cycle.

Commercially grown Durban from South Africa can be found in many parts of the world. It’s known for a strong cerebral high that sails smoothly on top of a powerful body-warming buzz. Many smokers can instantly recognise this imported ‘dagga’ by its earthy, citrus bouquet. Even after drying in the sun, then being compressed into bricks and travelling halfway around the globe, Durban’s characteristic flavours and effects have earned it a reputation as cannabis that’s not to be taken lightly.

Needless to say, all of those qualities can be better appreciated when Durban is sampled at its source - when her buds have been lovingly grown and carefully dried. Durban Feminized seeds give you the chance to make your own garden the point of origin for this excellent outdoor seed strain!

When treated well, Durban Feminized buds have a rich and complex range of aromas and flavours. Most common are sweet and fruity scents with strong overtones of lemon and more subtle aniseed notes. Plants of this family which display noticeably darker foliage than their sisters will often have a more earthy smell when flowering, which later ripens into aromas reminiscent of chocolate, coffee or sandalwood.

The Half-Legal Cannabis Trap - POLITICO

The Half-Legal Cannabis Trap - POLITICO LOS ANGELES — Everything about Kelvin’s job in a neighborhood southwest of downtown seemed like any other assignment, if not a little more exciting. The 40-year-old, who had previously worked as an electrician, had been employed since 2015 by a private security company that contracted him out to guard marijuana dispensaries. In 2019, he was protecting one of the thousand or so cannabis stores in California’s biggest city—part of an industry that has grown less and less underground since 1996, when the state first legalized medical marijuana. Kelvin, who asked not to be identified beyond his middle name to avoid professional retaliation, doesn’t smoke pot, but says the gig felt like the future. He grew up in a time when other Black people he knew in Los Angeles would go to jail for possessing even small amounts of the drug. Now, customers could walk into shops like the one he was guarding, many of which can be identified by green crosses on
